Ohio (7-3) vs. Central Michigan (5-5) Game Preview
Date: Tuesday, Nov. 15
Game Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Kelly/Shorts Stadium, Mount Pleasant, MI
Ohio can win the MAC East with a win, while Central Michigan is trying to stay alive for a bowl bid.
The Chippewas that looked so strong throughout the first half of the season – highlighted by the stunning win over Oklahoma State – have hit the skids over the last three weeks when they should be kicking it all in offensively. That’s going to be an issue against the Bobcat D, with leading rusher Devon Spalding having a problem with a shoulder injury, and Cooper Rush and the passing game not able to do enough to overcome the struggling defense.
Ohio has issues of its own, with starting QB Greg Windham trying to get through an ankle injury. Winners of three straight, the Bobcats haven’t been perfect, but they’ve been able to sneak by Kent State and Toledo on the road before rolling past Buffalo a few weeks ago.
Rested and ready, now Ohio needs the defense to keep up its production, while hoping the running game can produce like it did against the Golden Flashes and Rockets. When in doubt, the Bobcats have leaned on leading rusher Dorian Brown, and they’ll do it again against a good CMU run defense, but not a rock of one.
Ohio might need this, but the Chippewas will come up with a strong performance in their final home game of the season. Rush will hit for 300 yards against a porous Bobcat secondary.
