Northern Illinois (3-7) vs. Eastern Michigan (6-4) Game Preview

The world changed forever last Tuesday night, and it’ll never be the same again. No one saw this coming, but the impossible became possible … Eastern Michigan became bowl eligible.
The Eagles were able to slip past Ball State to get to six wins – avoiding a major collapse with losses in three of their previous four games. And now it’s gravy time, getting to enjoy two home games to end the regular season before going off to get their swag bag on.
And then there’s Northern Illinois, the MAC superpower going through a brutal season with no luck, no breaks, and for a second straight year, unfair quarterback injuries.
Drew Hare was lost for the season months ago, and last week, Anthony Maddie was lost for the rest of the year with a leg injury. Now it’s up to Ryan Graham to try picking up the pieces after giving Toledo fits last week, throwing for 227 yards and three scores with a pick. Throw in the 97 rushing yards, and the hope is for the production to continue to crank up.
The EMU secondary has been a problem, and the running game has been mediocre, but QB Brogan Roback has been on, throwing for more than 300 yards in each of his last four games, and hitting Ball State for 468 yards and three scores in last week’s key win.
Both quarterbacks will bomb away in a fun firefight, with the Northern Illinois offense doing a little more, even on the road. The Huskies are still playing hard, and the O will show it.
