Buffalo (1-5) vs. Northern Illinois (1-6) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 22
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Huskie Stadium, DeKalb, IL
Northern Illinois just can’t get this thing going.
The defense that’s been a problem all season long let the team down late in the three-overtime loss to Central Michigan for a horrific 1-6 start, and now there’s no margin for error the rest of the way in an attempt to go bowling.
At least the NIU offense has the running game to count on to steady the ship at times around all the other problems. Buffalo doesn’t have that.
The Bulls can’t score, with a painfully inefficient passing game failing to move the chains and struggling to finish off drives with points.
But the biggest problem is a run defense that’s getting destroyed, allowing 341 yard or more in four of the last five games, stunningly having its best performance against Boston College.
NIU will hit the 300-yard rushing mark and four scores as it finally starts to have a little fun.
