North Texas (4-3) vs. UTSA (3-4) Prediction
Considering what North Texas has ahead, if it wants to go bowling, it needs to win this game, and then either hope for a big upset, or wait until the UTEP game at the end of the regular season.
The Mean Green have won their last two games and three of their last four, mainly because of RB Jeffrey Wilson taking over.
The thin 6-0, 195-pound runner is carrying the team, hitting the 100-yard mark in three of the last four games – all wins – with 188 yards and two scores against Marshall, and 160 yards and three touchdowns on big run after big run in the win over Army last week.
The UTSA run defense is doing a decent job overall, not allowing more than 180 yards on the ground over the last three games, with the defense giving up points, but not a ton of yards.
The Roadrunners can throw the ball efficiently and effectively, but North Texas is tenth in the nation in pass efficiency defense. It’s going to have to come down to who screws up the least – and neither team is all that bad when it comes to turnover margin.
At home, UTSA will slow down Wilson and come up with a key win to keep the season alive.
