New Mexico (6-3) vs. Utah State (3-6) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 12
Game Time: 10:15 pm
Venue: Romney Stadium, Logan, UT
New Mexico has done a really, really nice job of picking itself up after a rocky start. With a four-game winning streak, the Lobos are bowling again, with the last three games gravy along the way to a post-season swag bag.
It’s not a hard formula. Run the ball. Run it a lot more. And then keep on running it.
The nation’s top ground game is coming off a 373-yard rumbling over Nevada for the sixth 300-yard rushing day of the year. Everyone is getting in the fun with a multi-faceted array of runners to do a little of everything. Run, own the clock, save the defense, go home with a win.
That shouldn’t be a problem against a dying Utah State team that lost five of its last six games.
The Aggies not only can’t hold up on the line – sort of a problem against this Lobo offensive front – but now the offense is in trouble. QB Kent Myers fought through the bumps and bruises against Wyoming, while No. 2 RB Devante Mays is having leg problems.
Utah State’s offense just won’t ever have the ball as the Lobos pound out scoring drive after scoring drive on the road.
