It’s been a rough 2016 for New Mexico State. The snubbing from the Sun Belt was bad, but at least the team returning was supposed to be experienced and – considering the problems for so long – sort of fun starting with star RB Larry Rose III leading the way.

Rose, though, has a hernia problem that caused him to miss the UTEP game, and now New Mexico doesn’t have to worry about him. The Aggie passing game won’t be able to pick up the slack, and worst of all, the run defense doesn’t seem to be any better. If you’re starting your year giving up 289 yards on the ground to UTEP, there’s a problem.

Enter New Mexico and its run first, run best – sometimes – run only attack.

The Aggies rumbled over South Dakota for 428 yards – the most rushing yards by any FCS team in Week One. The Lobo D might not have been a rock, but it’ll be rested thanks to an O that keeps the ball against the Aggies for over 35 minutes.
