Fordham is a terrific FCS team that should be the star of the Patriot League, but Navy came out nasty and rolled 52-16 – but at a cost.
It was hard enough to try rebuilding a bit on both sides of the ball without Keenan Reynolds at quarterback, and now it has to go on without starter Tago Smith after he suffered a torn ACL.
In steps Will Worth, who completed all three of his passes with a score, while taking off for 22 yards and a touchdown. Is it really just a case of plug and play for the Navy backfield? It’ll have to happen against one of the best run defenses he’ll face all year.
The Huskies had to work way too hard to put away Maine in a 24-21 victory, holding the Black Bears to just 40 yards on the ground. The problem? The offense couldn’t seem to get into any sort of a groove even though it held the ball for over 36 minutes and kept drives alive.
UConn will try grinding, but no one milks a clock better than the Navy offense – even with a new quarterback handling the work. If you like lots of passing and lots of fireworks, this isn’t your game.
