Navy (2-0) vs. Tulane (1-1 Game Preview
Date: Saturday, September 17th
Game Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Yulman Stadium, New Orleans, LA
It’s a dream if you like option running attacks operated at the highest of levels.
It’s going to take a little while for everything to be in place for the Willie Fritz attack to work the right way at Tulane, but last week it rolled against Southern after the defense almost pulled off a huge upset in the opener against Wake Forest.
It’s not operating at Navy level, but it’s been an interesting offense so far, but the team is doing almost everything else right with just eight penalties, good drives, and not coming up with a slew of big mistakes.
The one thing the Green Wave can’t do is throw the ball.
Will Worth has been great so far in place of the injured Tago Smith, hitting 9-of-11 passes for 208 yards and a score, but the running game – as always – is getting the job done coming up with 235 yards and a three scores against UConn.
Tulane will play well at home, but Navy will operate the offense even better.
The Midshipmen defense has been doing just fine, too. It’ll keep the Green Wave running game to under 250 yards, which doesn’t sound like it’s anything that great, but it’s a big deal against a team that can’t throw.
