The 2016 Mountain West Football preseason picks have been announced. Here’s what matters about the media’s predictions.
– Boise State was picked to win the Mountain Division, while defending division champion Air Force got two of the 27 votes. Utah State and Colorado State were within range of second, but the Broncos were the overwhelming pick.
– Defending Mountain West champion San Diego State was the unanimous preseason selection to take the West Division with all 29 votes. Nevada and San Jose State made it a battle for second, with Fresno State, UNLV and Hawai’i behind.
– Boise State has been picked to win the Mountain for each of the last three seasons, while San Diego State is the first team since TCU in 2010 to be a unanimous selection.
– The Mountain West Championship will be on December 3rd at the home stadium of the team with the highest College Football Playoff ranking.
