Middle Tennessee is off the Conference USA title hunt after inexplicably collapsing against UTSA last week, but it’s bowl eligible, and it can still finish strong and finish among the league’s best teams by winning out.
The Blue Raiders turned it over four times against the Roadrunners after giving it away just twice in the previous five games. When they’re not screwing up, they’re dangerous, with the skill players to put up astronomical numbers against a horrible Marshall defense that’s just not getting any better.
Marshall has just one FBS win – beating Florida Atlantic a few weeks ago – with the offense having a hard time just as the defense continues to find something that works. The Herd can’t stop third downs, and they can’t keep the chains moving, with the offense failing to crank up the ground game to put the passing attack in decent positions to hit its third down plays.
The Blue Raiders will bounce back from their disaster last week to roll at will. Marshall’s offense will keep up the pace for a while, and then it’ll stall in the third quarter.
