Michigan (9-1) vs. Indiana (5-5) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 19
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
Michigan is fine.
Starting quarterback Wilton Speight is out, and the team might have looked awful offensively against Iowa, but as long as the Wolverines beat Indiana and beat Ohio State, they’re in the Big Ten Championship. Win that, and they’re in the College Football Playoff.
Of course the Ohio State game is the one everyone will be looking forward to, but watch out for a Hoosier team that might just be dangerous enough to pull off the shocker.
IU pushed Penn State really, really hard before the score spiked up in the final seconds of a 45-31 loss, and they’ve got just enough of an offense to mix things up and take advantage of a Michigan team that’s suddenly looking beatable.
Yeah, IU has been defensively solid, especially against the decent passers, and it’s been great on third downs, but can the offense really get moving against a Wolverine D that’s allowed more than 14 points just once in the last seven games and is still No. 1 in the nation?
The Hoosiers have to continue to play solid defense, the offense needs to take advantage of every opportunity, and there have to be plenty of takeaways.
New Michigan starting QB John O’Korn isn’t going to bomb away, but the spotlight will be on to see if he can limit the big mistakes. Interceptions were a problem at Houston, and with IU about to load up against the run, it’ll O’Korn can’t force anything. As long as Michigan wins the turnover battle, everything will be fine.
The running game will take over early, the defense will be a brick wall, and Michigan will rebound to look like Michigan again, getting the Ohio State hype ready to roll by midway through the third quarter.
