That’s how you have a debut. Miami wasn’t going to be pushed, but beating Florida A&M 70-3 was a fun way to kick off the Mark Richt era. The ground attack rolled without a problem with 373 yards, while the defense managed to get over the very, very young and very, very thin linebacking corps concerns allowing just 22 rushing yards.
Florida Atlantic might have had to push a little bit to get by Southern Illinois, but the offense was good enough with Jason Driskel completing 23-of-31 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 41 yards and a score. Can he and the FAU ground game take advantage of the concerns on the Hurricane D? No, but the defense that came up with three sacks and 11 tackles for loss last week could make it a little bit interesting.
The Hurricanes will own the game on the defensive front, while Brad Kaaya will own third downs to overcome a sloppy overall game from the offense.
