Miami (2-0) vs. Appalachian State (1-1) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, September 17th
Game Time: 12:00 pm
Venue: Kidd Brewer Stadium, Boone, NC
Appalachian State almost made a national name for itself – again – with a painful close-call loss to Tennessee, but now it gets one of the big boys in its own house with a shot to screw up the early part of the Mark Richt era.
The Hurricanes have been easing their way into the season with two layups over Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic to kick things off, but with a young and emerging linebacking corps, and with injuries in a few key spots, they’ve needed the work. But not it’s time to get the passing attack rolling.
How has Miami been doing it defensively with all the issues? Attack, attack, attack, with a ridiculous ten sacks and 28 tackles for loss in the first two games – it’s why Miami is No. 1 in the nation against the run.
The Mountaineers will be inspired at home, with Marcus Cox coming up with a few decent runs here and there, but the defense won’t be able to come up with the second half stops needed to half the Miami momentum. Brad Kaaya hasn’t had to turn it loose quite yet, but this week he will with an efficient and accurate day, especially on third downs.
