Why Missouri Will Win

Did anything interesting happen with LSU this week?

The West Tigers weren’t just having problems with Les Miles, or a twitchy clock, or an offense that couldn’t get the ball down the field – it was a whole program malfunction to have this much talent and be 2-2.

Leonard Fournette is hurt, and while he’s the ultimate warrior battling through his leg injuries, the shots are starting to add up quickly for an offense that’s still not showing any real signs of life with the passing attack.

Will the coaching change mean a difference in identity? Will now be the time when LSU realizes it has pro receivers at its disposal? Outside of one late touchdown drive from Georgia’s Jacob Eason, the Mizzou defense has been outstanding at keeping the big passes under wraps.

LSU might have an NFL-caliber secondary, but Missouri’s passing game is rolling at will right now. No one has really tried testing the LSU pass defense, with Wisconsin and Auburn both playing it ultra-conservative and trying not to screw up. Mizzou QB Drew Lock is as hot as any pure passer in the country throwing 13 touchdown passes and over 1,200 yards in his last three games.

Why LSU Will Win

Maybe this is just what the team needs. As good as Les Miles was, maybe it’s simply a change-of-scenery away from starting to reach its potential.

This is still one of the five best teams in the country in terms of talent, and the defense is playing well enough to get the job done. Just a tweak here in the offense, a renewed energy there, and the team that’s two plays away from being 4-0 could get on a roll.

As good as Drew Lock might be playing, he also gave up three picks in the loss to Georgia. There won’t be any Missouri running game to worry about, and it’ll be Lock, Lock, and more Lock throwing into that NFL secondary that’ll come up with its share of wins.

Own the turnover battle, start taking more shots down the field with the tremendous wideouts, and now play with absolutely nothing to lose considering the coach got fired and there are already two losses on the stat sheet.

Don’t be shocked if this turns out to be the LSU team we’ve all been waiting for.

What’s Going To Happen?

For the second straight week it’s Tiger on Tiger action for LSU, only this time, there won’t be a clock concern at the very end.

1978 was the one and only time the two schools have met – the Missouri side won the Liberty Bowl 20-15.

This time around, you really think Ed Orgeron is going to lose now that the Louisiana native has a shot at the big-time gig?

The LSU D will come out roaring, the three takeaways will lead to points, and the team will start to rise back up with its best performance of the year.
