Louisville Football Schedule 2016: Game-By-Game Predictions

Louisville football schedule predictions and early game-by-game preview for 2016. Projecting how the Cardinals will do this year.

2016 Louisville Preview

Louisville has the team to make a giant push for the ACC championship, but does it have the schedule to get the job done? Here are the Louisville football schedule predictions for every game this season.

Sept. 1 vs. Charlotte

The Cardinals should come up with a solid, focused effort right out of the box. There’ll be the attention of the Thursday night game, the excitement of getting things off to a flying start before starting the ACC season, and the hype will be there from the opening kick.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 48, Charlotte 10

Sept. 9 at Syracuse

Can the Orange’s offense get off to a hot start in the Dino Babers era? Yeah, but the Cardinals will be more explosive and more effective in all phases. The Syracuse attack won’t be ready for primetime in key moments on a Friday night quite yet.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 37, Syracuse 27

Sept. 17 vs. Florida State

Welcome to the Lamar Jackson show. Is it going to be a crazy environment first thing on a Saturday morning? Not really, but it won’t matter all that much with Jackson giving the Seminole defense fits. It’ll be an early classic and one of the biggest moments of the 2016 college football season. Everything changes across the ACC landscape after this.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 23, Florida State 20

Sept. 24 at Marshall

Can the Cardinals somehow keep their attention on the most dangerous of sandwich games? They’ll be coming off the massive win over FSU, and they’ll have the chance to all but take the Atlantic a week later. But first, they face a good offense that’ll be ramped up to make a statement of its own. Louisville will come up with the win, but it won’t be anything to get fired up about.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 27, Marshall 24

Oct. 1 at Clemson

The Cardinals will have all the juice, joining NC State as the only unbeaten teams in the Atlantic. That’ll last a few minutes until Clemson comes out roaring following its loss to Georgia Tech the week before. The Tigers will get up fast with a few big early scoring drives, and they’ll coast from there.

Preseason Prediction: Clemson 38, Louisville 17

Oct. 14 vs. Duke

Getting a week off should counterbalance having to deal with Duke on a quirky-timed game on a Friday night. The Clemson loss will still sting, but the Cardinals will come back with a strong performance after a shaky first quarter. The Blue Devils will wear down after a short week.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 31, Duke 17

Oct. 22 vs. NC State

Will getting an extra day off matter? Absolutely. The Cardinals will have to deal with a tough defensive effort from the Wolfpack, but shouldn’t have too much of an issue after the first half. The Louisville defensive front will have a big day, too.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 27, NC State 21

Oct. 29 at Virginia

Everything will be rolling right along for Louisivlle, and then it’ll have to fight through a phenomenal game from the Virginia defense at home. It’s going to be a battle from start to finish, but the Cardinals will hit on two big pass plays the Cavaliers won’t be able to answer.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 31, Virginia 28

Nov. 5 at Boston College

Get ready for another grind of a game for the rolling Cardinals. Boston College will bring the defensive heat at home, but it’ll have a few breakdowns in the second quarter to let Louisville go on two good scoring drives to take control.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 26, Boston College 17

Nov. 12 vs. Wake Forest

The improved Demon Deacons – especially by this point of the season – still won’t have the offense in place to keep up with the Cardinals. With the ACC Atlantic there for the taking, Louisville will come up with a fantastic all-around performance to get it done.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 38, Wake Forest 20

Nov. 19 at Houston

Both teams will get only five days off before the nationally-televised Thursday night game, and both teams will have big things ahead. However, Houston will be tremendous on home on the big stage, and things just won’t go the right way for a Louisville team that won’t catch any sort of a break – the Cougars will have something to do with that.

Preseason Prediction: Houston 34, Louisville 31

Nov. 26 vs. Kentucky

Yeah, sticking with the pick of Louisville to take the Atlantic – meaning it has bigger fish to fry the week after this. Also sticking with Kentucky being bowl eligible by this point – meaning it can chill a bit. It’ll still be an aggressive, spirited rivalry fight with the Cardinals playing well coming off the loss – they want to prove they really are the real deal.

Preseason Prediction: Louisville 30, Kentucky 27

2016 Prediction: 10-2
2016 ACC Prediction: 7-1
