Boston College won an ACC game for the first time since 2014, while Louisville was disrespected – at least according to some – in the first College Football Playoff rankings with a No. 7 ranking.

Each team has a reason to look really, really strong.

The Eagles are in the mix for a bowl bid after last week’s stunner against NC State, and with Florida State up next on the road, and a date at Wake Forest to finish things up, it’s going to be tough to get another win along the way to go along with what needs to be a home win over UConn in a few weeks.

The Eagle defense has been good enough to overcome a sketchy offense, but QB Patrick Towles is coming off a solid performance against the Wolfpack, throwing for 204 yards to go along with a good-enough day from the ground game, to pull off the win. Against Louisville, everything has to work and work perfectly.

More than anything else, the Eagles have to do what Duke was able to in the near-miss a few weeks ago, and own the time of possession. BC keeps the ball for over 34 minutes a game, and it has to do that and then some to keep Lamar Jackson on the sidelines.

The Eagles don’t the firepower in any way to keep up, but the linebackers are sound and the third down defense has been amazing.

For Louisville, it’s not just about winning now; it’s about total annihilation.

they have to look the part of one of the four best teams in college football, and it stars by not struggling anymore against bad teams – like it did against Duke and Virginia.

With Wake Forest, Houston and Kentucky left to play, there aren’t any more national WOW games to get excited about.

The Cardinals have to roar, putting up ridiculous numbers while using November as their own playoff. They’re not going to get to the ACC title game, so they need to be phenomenal.

That’s going to be tough to do against the BC defense that’s almost perfectly built to slow down the Cardinal running game when Jackson starts to take off, but it’ll happen.

Virginia Tech blasted the Eagles 49-0, and Clemson rolled 56-10. Louisville is about to have the same sort of fun.
