Louisiana Tech (3-3) vs. Massachusetts (1-5) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 15
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA
Louisiana Tech takes a break from the Conference USA world and a thrilling win over WKU with an interesting road date that might turn out to be a bit more of a fight than it might like.
UMass has played well at times, but outside of a win over FIU – Louisiana Tech’s next opponent – staying close hasn’t been enough with an offense that can’t do enough to get over the hump.
The defense that was so strong at times in September is struggling over the last few weeks, and now it has to deal with Ryan Higgins and a Bulldog passing game that rolled up 454 yards and five touchdowns last week. Higgins hasn’t thrown a pick in the last four games, but the UMass pass defense has been just good enough to potentially keep this from getting out of hand.
Can Andrew Ford get the Minutemen offense going? Ross Comis is out with a leg injury, but even worse, the secondary could have a nightmare of a time with a banged up group of safeties that’ll have to patch things together.
Louisiana Tech doesn’t have a pass defense, but UMass won’t be able to take advantage of it in the second half.
