It’s the game Kentucky fans have been waiting six years for.
The 2011 BBVA Compass Bowl was the last post-season game the program has been to, and that’s back with UK was going to bowl games on a regular basis.
Last year, the Wildcats started 4-1 before collapsing, losing six of the last seven to miss out on a bowl.
In 2014, they started 5-1, only to lose their last six to miss out on a bowl.
5-3 to start the season, and with the SEC East title still a part of the equation, the Cats lost to Georgia and Tennessee, and have a trip up the road to Louisville to close things out.
But Austin Peay will be a coronation for that much-elusive sixth win.
The Governors have had a rough year, starting out with a 57-17 loss to Troy, and with the defense not bouncing back from there, allowing well over 500 yards per game with a balanced D allowing teams to throw and run with equal ease.
Last week, Kentucky tore through Tennessee for 443 rushing yards and four scores averaging over eight yards per pop, and have run for 258 yards or more in four of the final five games.
After tearing off big run after big run, it’s about to happen again, as Austin Peay will get ripped apart in the first quarter on the way to an easy afternoon for Kentucky. The Cats will call their shot, and they’re going to have their fun.
