Kent State (3-7) vs. Bowling Green (2-8) Game Preview
Date: Tuesday, Nov. 15
Game Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Doyt Perry Stadium, Bowling Green, OH
Bowling Green showed a sign of something positive in an otherwise disastrous season, screwing up Akron with a 38-28 road win.
The Falcons looked and played like they’re supposed to.
Freshman QB James Morgan might have struggled against the Zips, but Fred Coppet went off coming up with 116 yards and two scores on just 16 carries, and now it’s his job to try carrying the offense against one of the MAC’s best defenses.
But it took something special for the Falcons to beat Akron last week – six takeaways.
They’ve been miserable all season long in turnover margin – going a -13 on the year with six games at a -2 or more, but last week, the D came up with six takeaways to pull off the upset.
But the Golden Flashes don’t make mistakes, and they’re not going to give Bowling Green the breaks.
Kent State might not have any real offense to get excited about, but it’s a +8 over the last six games with the defense saving the mediocre O time and again.
But the defense and the team are going through a major crisis, losing All-America S Nate Holley for at least the game – and likely the rest of his career – after being suspended indefinitely following first-degree felony kidnapping charges.
Kent State is more than just Holley, and it’ll come up with stop after stop against a Bowling Green attack that won’t get a break by six takeaways from the defense this week.
