Kent State (2-4) vs. Miami University (0-6) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 15
Game Time: 2:30 pm
Venue: Yager Stadium, Oxford, OH
Can Kent State somehow get back into the bowl picture with a win? You’ve got to beat who’s on the schedule, no matter who it is, and with the way Bowling Green and NIU are playing, winning four of the last six games isn’t out of the question if the offense plays like it did last week in the 44-20 win over Buffalo.
The defense hasn’t been the killer it was throughout last year, and the offense has been painfully inconsistent, especially throwing the ball, but Miami is the team to get everything healthy against.
Can QB Billy Bahl go for the RedHawks? The Miami starting quarterback has a shoulder problem, and his backups – Jordan Martin and Gus Ragland – are both out. When he’s right, Bahl is good enough to pull this off, and he might have to with a running game that has no hope of going anywhere against the Golden Flash front seven.
But the anemic Kent State running game won’t go anywhere against the suddenly-terrific RedHawk defensive front.
Kent State’s defense was supposed to be the difference this year in a game like this, but this week it’ll be Miami’s D that gets it done to overcome yet another painful game from the RedHawk O.
