Indiana is two steps away from getting to a bowl game, while Rutgers is just looking for its first Big Ten win this season under head coach Chris Ash.

This is one of those play-a-team-your-own-size games for each one, and neither one can afford a miss.

The Hoosiers blew past a three-game losing streak with a big offensive performance in a 42-36 win over Maryland. The offense picked it back up again after sputtering too much for too long a stretch, and now this might be the last shot for a little while to do something fun with Penn State and Michigan up next. They need this, and then have Purdue at the end to get to six wins.

Rutgers is on a five-game losing streak, but it showed a sign of life last week in a big comeback against Minnesota that fell just short. It was a spark for a team that got outscored by a combined score of 174-14.

With two of the last three games on the road against Michigan State and Maryland, wrapped around the home date against Penn State, the Scarlet Knights need to come up with one of their better games of the season to come up with a second win over an FBS team.

Indiana’s job is to get off to a hot start. The passing game has been solid, but Richard Lagow hasn’t hit a touchdown pass in the last two games, even though the yards and downfield plays are there. But the ground attack should work better against a porous Rutgers defensive front that’s getting destroyed game after game, forcing the offense to press – and then bad things usually happen.

IU will run for two early scores, the secondary will come up with two picks the offense will convert into points, and it’ll be another rough day for a Rutgers team that can’t create its own break.
