Independents Week 8 Roundup
Shockingly, BYU played another close game – that’s all it does. It might have lost to Boise State, but it didn’t have RB Jamaal Williams, who was out with an ankle injury, and got ripped apart yardage-wise. A horrible fake punt proved costly, but even with the lack of O, and a slew of other issues getting outgained 577 yards to 322, the Cougars still only lost 28-27. … Army turned the ball over seven times in sloppy conditions in the 35-18 loss to North Texas. Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 90 yards and a score, but he gave up four interceptions in what could be a bowl-killing loss. The Knights ran for 302 yards and two scores, but the turnovers were too costly. … South Carolina might be gushing over the big performance from its freshman quarterback, Jake Bentley, but Massachusetts fought hard in the 34-28 loss. Down 27-7, the Minutemen rallied back in a big way getting three touchdown passes from Andrew Ford and 123 yards on the ground from Marquis Young. The comeback fell short, but the defense was solid in the second half.
