Houston (5-0) vs. Navy (3-1) Game Preview

Game Time: 3:00 pm
Venue: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium

Can Navy throw something nasty at Houston? Last year the Midshipmen – arguably the best team under Ken Niumatalolo – was supposed give the Cougars a challenge, and they got thumped.
This time around, Navy is coming off a loss to Air Force when the offense couldn’t get going, and so far this year it’s been a fight to get the fun going. For this to work, the option has to dominate on third downs and keep Greg Ward and company off the field, and the defense has to hold up.
However, Navy’s secondary has yet to face anyone who can throw. That’s about to change.
Houston has answered every challenge without a problem so far with the run defense being every bit as terrific as the outstanding offense. Ward’s the signature star, and he’s going to be efficient and effective against a Navy defense with no pass rush whatever, but the Cougar linebacking corps will be the dominant force by getting behind the line before the Midshipmen ground game can get started.
Yeah, Navy is always the team no one wants to deal with, but this week, Houston shouldn’t have any sort of a problem – it matches up as well as possible.
