Louisiana-Lafayette (3-5) vs. Georgia Southern (4-5) Game Preview
Date: Thuesday, Nov. 10
Game Time: 7:30 pm
Venue: Allen E. Paulson Stadium, Statesboro, GA
It’s condition-critical time for both teams.
And Sun Belt title hopes are basically gone, but they each have designs on getting to a bowl game, and for the loser, that’s going to be a problem.
Louisiana-Lafayette suffered a loss to Idaho at home it absolutely couldn’t have. Losers of four of the last five games, the lines aren’t playing well, the offense is sputtering, and the team just can’t seem to catch much of a break. This starts a run of three games in the final four weeks, and with Georgia up next, getting a win now is a must.
The defense has been good enough. The secondary is okay, but it’s the run defense that’s taking over, allowing just 127 yards per game from a line that has yet to allow more than 171 rushing yards.
However, the Ragin’ Cajuns are 3-0 when allowing fewer than 100 yards, and 0-5 when giving up more.
And now they’re facing one of the nation’s best rushing attacks.
Georgia Southern has lost five of its last six games and isn’t anywhere near the offensive juggernaut it’s been in the past, but the ground game is still good enough. It’s only been held to under 100 yards once, and that’s not happening for an option attack that’s averaging 242 yards per game.
Neither defensive line will do much, but the Eagles will have the ball just enough, and will control the clock long enough, to bust through a tough run and get a big win again.
