Florida (2-0) vs. North Texas (1-1) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, September 17th
Game Time: 7:30 pm
Venue: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, FL
In its utter domination over Kentucky, Florida looked as good as it has since Jim McElwain took over the job last season. The offense showed off the firepower rarely seen throughout 2015, but it was the defense that dominated in the 45-7 win, allowing just three completed passes while picking off three.
The team looked perfectly tuned up, but it gets one final scrimmage before it all really matters with a trip to Tennessee coming up next.
North Texas got the offense going against Bethune-Cookman in a 41-20 win for head coach Seth Littrell, and while the passing game might not be any better than Kentucky’s, the offense might be just enough to make Florida try for a quarter or two.
What can the Gators work on? It can bring a bit more to the running game that’s averaging just 4.4 yards per carry, but that’s nitpicking. That’s what this game is for – work on the depth, make sure everything is in sync, and get QB Luke Del Rio some more work – and star WR Antonio Callaway some rest for his injured quad.
