Week 5 Conference USA Game Previews, Predictions, Lines & TV

How are the Conference USA picks so far? SU: 35-9, ATS: 18-18

Saturday, October 1

Old Dominion vs. Charlotte 6:00 pm CUSA.tv
Line: Old Dominion -9.5 o/u: 60
Fearless Prediction: Old Dominion 37, Charlotte 23

The 49ers are running the ball okay, but the defense hasn’t been able to come up with a decent stop over the last few weeks. Old Dominion might be banged up in the backfield, but it doesn’t make mistakes and has the type of balanced attack that should give the 49er back seven fits.

Florida Atlantic vs. Florida International 6:00 pm beIn Sports
Line: Florida Atlantic -6 o/u: 53.5
Fearless Prediction: FIU 27, Florida Atlantic 24

Will the coaching move fire up FIU and finally get the season rolling? So far, the Golden Panthers aren’t doing much of anything right, but the FAU defense isn’t stopping anyone, either. It’ll come down to who makes more mistakes, and who plays sharper and with more energy. After all the drama, watch the Golden Panthers come out with a real, live offense for the first time all year.

UTEP at Louisiana Tech 7:00 pm ASN
Line: Louisiana Tech -19.5 o/u: 60.5
Fearless Prediction: Louisiana Tech 45, UTEP 17

The Bulldogs have played well, but they have nothing to show for it going 1-3 with close losses to Arkansas and Middle Tennessee along the way. Now they’ll get to have some fun with the high-octane passing offense ripping apart a Miner defense that gives up yards in chunks. UTEP has scored just 28 points in the last three games – it’s not going to explode now.

Middle Tennessee at North Texas 7:00 pm
Line: Middle Tennessee -15 o/u: 59.5

Rice at Southern Miss 7:00 pm CUSA.TV
Line: Southern Miss -24 o/u: 58.5
Game Preview & Fearless Prediction

Houston Baptist at WKU 7:00 pm CS Live
Line: No Line
Fearless Prediction: WKU 55, Houston Baptist 14

After losing a heartbreaker against Vanderbilt, the Hilltoppers will get back on track and start looking the part against an interesting Houston Baptist team with a good ground game – and no pass defense. This is when the WKU offense gears it all up before going on the road for three key games in four weeks.

Marshall at Pittsburgh 7:30 pm RSN
Line: Pitt -1 o/u: 66
