Preview 2016 Preseason All-MAC Team & Top Players

2016 CFN MAC Offensive Player of the Year

QB Zach Terrell, Sr. Western Michigan: Toledo’s Logan Woodside threw 43 touchdown passes and just nine picks, and WMU WR Corey Davis was the league’s best player – he’ll be a first round draft pick. But it was Terrell’s season as the leader of the boat rowers. With 32 touchdown passes and just three picks, and six rushing touchdowns, he was the conductor of the team that found its way to a MAC championship – and the Cotton Bowl.

2016 CFN All-MAC Defensive Player of the Year

DT Pat O’Connor, Sr. Eastern Michigan : Kent State safety Nate Holley was the best defensive player in the MAC – right up until he missed the last quarter of the season for a massive off-the-field issue. There were linemen who came up with more sacks, and more big plays than O’Conner, but he was the tone-setting, heart-and-soul type for the EMU breakthrough campaign. Everything on the D revolved around him.

7. QB Cooper Rush, Sr. Central Michigan
8. LB Ulysees Gilbert, Soph. Akron

2016 CFN All-MAC Offense

QB – Zach Terrell, Sr. Western Michigan

247-349, 3,376 yards, 71%, 32 touchdowns, three interceptions, 235 rushing yards, six scores

RB – Jarvion Franklin, Jr. Western Michigan

241 carries, 1,300 yards, 5.39-yard average, 12 touchdowns, 21 catches, 255 yards, two scores

RB – Kareem Hunt, Sr. Toledo

240 carries, 1,355 yards, 5.65-yard average, eight touchdowns, 39 catches, 377 yards, one score

WR – Corey Davis, Sr. Western Michigan

91 catches, 1,427 yards, 15.68-yard average, 18 touchdowns

WR – Kenny Golladay, Sr. Northern Illinois

87 catches, 1,156 yards, 13.29-yard average, eight touchdowns

TE – Michael Roberts, Sr. Toledo

43 catches, 514 yards, 11.95-yard average, 15 touchdowns

OL – Taylor Moton, Sr. Western Michigan (OT)

How do you think Zach Terrell and the Bronco offense was able to roll at will like it did? Moton at right tackle, Chukwuma Okarafor at left tackle – the bookends kept the main man upright.

OL – Storm Norton, Sr. Toledo (OT)

The 6-8, 306-pound blaster was terrific for the ground game, but his main job was protecting QB Logan Woodside. He was as good as any pass protector in the conference.

OL – Levon Myers, Sr. Northern Illinois (OT)

Flip a coin, and you probably have the better of the two Northern Illinois tackles this year. Myers dominated on the left side, Max Scharping on the right both helped the Huskies lead the MAC in rushing.

OL – Chukwuma Okarafor, Jr. Western Michigan (OT)

14. That’s how many sacks WMU allowed with Okarafor on one side and Taylor Moton on the other doing a phenomenal job. Next season, the left tackle gig should be Okarafor’s.

OL – Max Scharping, Soph. Northern Illinois (OT)

Levon Myers was the veteran star at left tackle, but Scharping will be the fixture for the NIU line for the next two years. He was outstanding on the right side.
