Toledo (5-1) vs. Central Michigan (5-2) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 22
Game Time: 12:00 pm
Venue: Glass Bowl, Toledo, OH
It’s not quite Western Michigan’s West yet, even with a blowout win over Central Michigan. Toledo still has its shot, but first it has to hit four layups in a row over the next four weeks after dealing with Central Michigan.
The Chippewas have been okay, not great in their two tough wins over mediocre Ball State and Northern Illinois squads. But the offense is still good, the team is finding ways to get by in key solutions, especially on third downs, and now it’s one win away from going bowling and a victory over Toledo away from potentially making this really, really interesting.
What would happen in a three-way tie for the MAC West between CMU, Toledo and Western Michigan? Give if a few weeks.
First, CMU has to stop a juggernaut of a Rocket attack that’s cranked out 31 points or more in every game and 42 of more in four of the six. This is a dangerous, balanced and explosive team that can hit home runs, go on long marches, and do everything in between.
And even the D is starting to make plays, coming up with its first three takeaways of the year over the last two weeks.
The secondary has been getting hit hard over the last few weeks, and CMU QB Cooper Rush will throw for over 300 yards, but the Rocket offense is too good and too relentless.
