Central Michigan (4-2) vs. Northern Illinois (1-5) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 15
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Huskie Stadium, DeKalb, IL
Central Michigan has fallen back a bit after a tremendously hot start, but this is a game it needs to win. Losing to Virginia and Western Michigan is one thing, but to struggle and sputter against Ball State at home was a problem.
The Chippewas won, but with three of the next four games on the road, to have any hope of getting back in the MAC race – and beating Toledo next week – they need to rise up get the offense moving again against the struggling Huskies.
NIU’s offense is working, especially on the ground, and it was able to keep up a bit with Western Michigan last week, but the defense can’t come up with picks and big plays, allowing 40 points or more in four of the six games this year.
Can the NIU secondary hold up against Cooper Rush and a passing game that should be able to roll up 300 yards without a problem?
Nope. The Huskies will run just well enough to keep this from getting out of hand, but CMU will get one step away from bowl eligibility.
