Boise State vs. Colorado State (3-3) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 15
Game Time: 10:15 pm
Venue: Albertsons Stadium, Boise, ID
It’s appearances time for Boise State.
Now that Houston lost, the Broncos have a real, live shot to at least get into the College Football Playoff discussion if they can get to 13-0 – and do it impressively.
The Mountain West just hasn’t been all that great, but with a win over Washington State, and with BYU coming up, the chances are there to at least have an okay overall resume. Blasting away on a mediocre Colorado State team is a must along the way.
Just when it seemed like the season was about to slip into the abyss after a rough loss to Wyoming at home, the Rams bounced back in a big way with a desperately-needed win over Utah State. There’s still a good shot a bowl bid with UNLV, Fresno State and New Mexico still to play, but beating Boise State would launch them into the Mountain division chase.
The problem is that the Rams just aren’t consistent offensively, while the defense isn’t coming up with any stops to help change around the momentum, allowing teams to hit almost 50% of their chances.
Boise State might not be quite as dominant as it should be at times, but it’s ultra-efficient and should be effective at keeping things moving – as long as it doesn’t screw up.
The defense has only forced three turnovers on the year, but it hasn’t mattered much. The Broncos will be fine – the Rams won’t have enough pop or offensive balance to pull this off, and the D won’t come up with enough takeaways.
