Ball State (3-7) vs. Toledo (8-2) Game Preview
Date: Wednesday, Nov. 16
Game Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Glass Bowl, Toledo, OH
Don’t just give the MAC title to Western Michigan quite yet.
The Broncos might be rocking and rolling, but Toledo – even with the loss to Ohio – can still win the MAC West and can go off to take the conference championship by beating Ball State this week and at Western Michigan next week.
The Rockets have won five of their last six games, with the offense continuing to shine with three or more touchdown passes in ever game this season, including three last week in the tough fight with Northern Illinois in U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
Ball State is fighting for its bowl life after losing its last three games and five of the last six.
Aftter a terrific start, the defense has hit the skids – getting ripped apart at home over the last three games by Akron, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan – and now the nation’s third-worst pass defense has to deal with Logan Woodside and that ultra-efficient Rocket passing game.
Worse yet, the Cardinals will do it without star RB James Gilbert, who suffered a leg injury against EMU after running for 54 yards and a score. Where’s the Cardinal offense going to come from? It won’t.
The Ball State passing offense isn’t going to be able to keep up the pace as Toledo stays alive for the MAC title.
