Army vs. UTEP Game Preview

Game Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Sun Bowl, El Paso, TX
Network: American Sports Network
This is the Army we’ve all been waiting for under head coach Todd Monken. It’s taken a few years, and it’s got a long way to go to be Navy in terms of consistency, but after two weeks and two double-digit wins over Temple and Rice, there’s bowl hope.
And there’s hope to be more than just competitive against a relatively easy first half of the season.
The Black Knight rushing offense has been terrific – as always. The passing game, unlike the Navy attack, isn’t productive or efficient – as always. But what’s not the same is a defense that’s shown up nasty this year, especially on third downs.
Get off the field, hold the ball for 38 minutes, don’t turn the ball over or make any major screw-ups, and let the other team panic.
UTEP’s been holding the ball, too, keeping up for close to 36 minutes a game, but the offense couldn’t solve Texas last week and it’s not throwing the ball well. With QB Zack Greenlee expected to be back, the Miner offense should start to work even better.
But Army is playing too well. The Miner defensive front won’t be able to handle the attack with Andy Davidson running tough in the interior and QB Ahmad Bradshaw a veteran who knows how to take care of the attack.
