American Athletic Week 8 Roundup

Navy, you’re only conference hope left to get to the New Year’s Six as the league’s last remaining one-loss team. Will Worth ran for 201 yards and three scores, and threw for two more, in the 42-28 win over Memphis. … South Florida lost the game it couldn’t lose. Temple stepped up its defense against the Bull ground game, while Ryquell Armstead went off for the Owls, running for 210 yards and two scores to get right back into the thick of the AAC title chase. … Didn’t you used to be Houston? SMU got up 21-0 in the first half and coasted from there, holding the high-powered Cougar attack to just 303 yards with Greg Ward able to come up with just two scoring passes. … UCF bounced back from a rough start to get by Connecticut 24-16. The Huskies got up 13-0 before McKenzie Milton went to work, throwing three touchdown passes with the last two as part of a run of 17 unanswered points. … Tulsa started scoring right away on Tulane, and it didn’t stop on the way to a 50-27 win. Dane Evans threw three touchdown passes, and James Flanders ran for 190 yards and two scores. The Green Wave ran its option for 355 yards ripping off big runs in chunks, but the passing game died in comeback mode. Glen Cuiellette completed just 3-of-19 passes for 37 yards. … Blair Kiel got the job done for Cincinnati in what might have been, for all intents and purposes, a bowl elimination game for East Carolina. Kiel threw for 348 yards and four scores – with three to Kahlil Lewis – and ECU’s Philip Nelson couldn’t keep up the pace with two key picks, but with two touchdown passes for Jimmy Williams.
