Utah State (3-5) vs. Wyoming (6-2) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 5
Game Time: 10:15 pm
Venue: War Memorial Stadium, Laramie, WY
It’s Wyoming’s Mountain Division now and everyone else is just taking up space.
The Cowboys pulled off the biggest win of the Mountain West season with a stunner over Boise State in Laramie last week. Now it’s all there for the taking by winning out, but with dangerous dates against San Diego State and New Mexico still to deal with.
Brian Hill and the running game have kicked it all in for the Cowboys, with the star following up the 289-yard, three-score day against Nevada with a clutch 146-yard performance against the strong Boise State defense.
And then there’s Utah State, who took advantage of the Fresno State scrimmage as the only hope in a run of four losses in the last five games.
With three of the last four games on the road, and a home date against New Mexico, it’s asking for way too much for a team with a nice defense, but not a good enough one, to come up with something special.
Utah State’s problem is that it just might never have the ball. The Aggies only control the clock for just over 27 minutes a game, while Wyoming keeps it for 32 minutes. Skew that higher, as the Cowboys roll for close to 300 yards on the ground helped by long drive after long drive.
