Tulane vs. UCF Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 5
Game Time: 5:00 pm
Venue: Bright House Networks Stadium, Orlando, FL
Tulane isn’t all that bad, but it’s still the only winless team in American Athletic Conference Play. It’s out of the West hunt, but at 2-2, UCF is still alive in the East – it just needs to catch fire in a hurry.
Tulane has lost three straight games after a solid start under new head coach Willie Fritz, but the strong defense has started to struggle because the offense isn’t providing enough help. The Fritz rushing attack isn’t kicking it in quite yet, but the offense has been good enough to keep the team competitive.
It’s going to need to be explosive at times, though, against a UCF team that’s two wins away from going from winless to bowl bound, helped mostly by a run D that’s been among the best in the conference.
The one big problem with the Knights has been as passing attack that’s not moving the chains in key moments and isn’t coming up with third down plays.
It’ll be a close battle for a half, but the UCF’s defense will come up with stop after stop in the second half, while the running game will take over to control the time of possession that Tulane needs to own.
After three straight games of the ground attack tanking – UCF hasn’t hit the 100-yard mark over the last three weeks – but that’ll all change this week. This is when the Knights get back to form.
