Toledo (6-2) vs. Akron (5-4) Game Preview
Date: Wednesday, Nov. 2
Game Time: 7:30 pm
Venue: InfoCision Stadium, Akron, OH
Just when it seemed like Toledo was the sure-thing, no-brainer, second-best team in the MAC with a chance against Western Michigan later to take the top spot, the team picked an awful time to come up with a total clunker against a mediocre Ohio team.
Now the Rockets get just one more home game, and there’s no margin for error. Win the next three games, though, and the MAC will still be there for the taking.
Akron is still in the mix for a MAC East with its showdown at Ohio coming up at the end of the regular season, but if Toledo’s loss to the Bobcats last week was bad, the Zips loss to a bad Buffalo team was really awful.
Akron lost 41-20, with the defense getting ripped to shreds by a record-setting day from the UB ground game. The Zips are giving up over five yards per carry, allowing 1,012 yards and ten touchdowns over the last three games, and it’s not about to get any better.
The Toledo offense has worked mostly around the passing game at times, but Kareem Hunt and Terry Swanson are about to have a whole lot of fun. Toledo has rushed for over 200 yards just three times this year, On the road, it’ll hit the 300-yard mark against the Zips, but the Akron offense will get rolling, too.
