Oh, that’s just GREAT.

North Carolina is coming off the crushing 28-27 rivalry loss to Duke, and it has another emotional game against NC State to finish, all the while hoping to get to the ACC Championship needing Virginia to beat Virginia Tech next week.

The last thing a team like the Tar Heels need right now is a battle with the No. 6 team in the FCS with an option attack that, if it’s working, could make life very, very hard.

The Citadel is unbeaten with the No. 1 ground game in the FCS, tearing off 360 yards per game to go along with a nasty defense that’s almost never on the field. The formula all works – the O hangs on to the ball for most of the game, it converts third down after third down, the D is rested, and the wins come.

How much will the Tar Heels care?

They were able to roll without a problem against Georgia Tech two weeks ago in a 48-20 win, but they gave up 374 yards to the Yellow Jacket option attack.

The UNC defensive front has been awful all year against the run, so it has to get grinding on its own and turn this around on the Bulldogs.

Mitch Trubisky needs to to be sharp, Elijah Hood and the ground game have to control the clock, and the team can’t let The Citadel offense to get into a groove right away.

Make the Bulldogs throw, and it’s over.

UNC will get by, but it’ll have its problems. It’ll have to work more into the second half than it might like.
