Colorado State (5-4) vs. Air Force (6-3) Game Preview

Date: Saturday, Nov. 12
Game Time: 10:15 pm
Venue: Falcon Stadium, Fort Collins, CO
Network: ESPNU

It’s not that the Mountain West doesn’t like Air Force, but with Hawaii, Nevada, Utah State, and UNLV all likely to get bounced out of bowl eligibility soon – okay, so Hawaii might make it – Colorado State getting a sixth win would be a good thing for the league.

It’s been a grind for the Rams, but they’ve taken advantage of the easy part of the slate over the last few weeks against UNLV and Fresno State to get back among the living, and with a close loss to Boise State, at least they’ve been competitive.

The 5-4 record might not seem that great, but the losses to Colorado, Minnesota, Wyoming and Boise State – all but the one to the Cowboys on the road – the season hasn’t been horrible.

However, with New Mexico and at San Diego State to close, getting that sixth win will be tough.

The offense is balanced and the defense has been good enough, but line needs to come up with something special for the third week in a row against the Air Force ground game.

It hasn’t always been easy, but the Falcons have been able to pound out their normal rushing production after a rocky midsection of the season. There won’t be a repeat trip to the Mountain West title game, but they’re going bowling after taking the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy with a win over Army last week.

Jacobi Owens continues to be the main man in the attack – getting 106 yards on just 12 carries against the Black Knights – but who’ll be under center?

Nate Romine is back from an ankle injury after freshman Arion Wortham did a nice job in relief. Even so, this will be the Rams’ day.

The offensive balance will be too effective for the mediocre and inconsistent Falcon D, while the Rams’ linebacker combination of Kevin Davis and Josh Watson will combine for at least 25 tackles.

*To be honest, it looks like yet another brutally dull sci-fi thing, but it’s 100%, so you’re supposed to see it or else.
