Clemson (9-0) vs. Pitt (5-4) Game Preview

Date: Saturday, Nov. 12
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Memorial Stadium, Clemson, SC
Network: ABC

Clemson more than passed the test against one dangerous offense last week, and this week it’s got to do it again in what should be more of a shootout.

At the very least, Pitt should score.

Syracuse has one of the nation’s better passing attacks, but it was shut down and shut out in a blowout loss in Death Valley last week. Now, it’s Pitt’s turn to try cranking up the offense to try keeping tripping up a Clemson team that came close to losing its star.

Deshaun Watson is expected to play through a shoulder injury, after it didn’t matter much once he left the 54-0 win over the Orange. Against a Panther defense depleted by injuries – at least in terms of the depth – it should be target practice time for the entire Tiger offense.

Pitt’s secondary hasn’t even been close, getting hit by Virginia Tech for 406 yards two weeks ago and by Brad Kaaya and Miami for 356 yards and four scores last week. And now it’ll be all about whether or not the Panther secondary can come up with a stop.

The running game is rolling, but Clemson has been unstoppable through the air with Watson and – for a stretch last week – Nick Schuessler combining for 370 yards and four scores against the Orange, making it the third straight game hitting the 370-yard mark, and the sixth time in the last seven games the Tigers threw for 300 yards or more.

Making seven times in eight games.

Watson is expected to play, and he’ll do whatever he wants against the banged up and bruised Panther D.
