And the honor of being the 12th-best team in a conference that calls itself the Pac-12 is …

An Arizona team devastated by injuries keep trying to fight on in blowout after blowout. Oddly enough, the overtime loss to Washington was the last time the Wildcats were even remotely competitive – losing each of the last six games by 13 points or more.

The defense has been a nightmare, with the secondary getting picked clean and the front seven getting run on at will. The offense has’t been able to pick up the slack, with a disaster of a quarterback situation contributing to a painfully inefficient passing game not able to do its part, even through the ground attack has been solid at times.

At least Oregon State has put up a fight.

The Beavers have lost five straight, but they pushed Utah and Washington State hard, and they hung around with Stanford an UCLA before losing each game by double-digits.

There’s no passing game and just average production on the ground, but unlike UCLA, they can stop an opposing passing attack. That’s not going to be a worry this week.

Which team will outyuck the other?

At home, the Oregon State offense will work just fine. QB Marcus McMaryion is coming off a decent game against UCLA and should be efficient enough to get by, while there will be a ground game again after not doing much of anything last week.

Arizona is simply having too many problems – there’s no pop anymore.
