Appalachian State (8-3) vs. New Mexico State (3-7) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 26
Game Time: 4:00 pm
Venue: Aggie Memorial Stadium, Las Cruces, NM
Bowl and Conference Implications
Still alive for the Sun Belt title, Appalachian State can win at least a share of the title by winning the last two games and getting an Arkansas State loss, and it can win outright if the Red Wolves lose twice. New Mexico State has two games left as an FBS program before getting booted out of the Sun Belt.
What’s Going To Happen?
Appalachian State bounced back from the loss to Troy to roll ULM, and now it still has a shot at getting to a ten-win season with a win and a bowl victory.
The running game continues to dominate, ripping through Texas State last week for a season-high 429 yards and four scores, averaging over nine yards per pop. Jalin Moore has hit the 100-yard mark in seven of the last eight games, Marcus Cox rumbled for 153 yards and three touchdowns, and now it’s all about to drop on the Aggies.
New Mexico State’s defense is equally bad no matter what teams try to do, and ASU isn’t going to do anything funky.
Start running, keep running, and rely on the defense to stop the NMSU passing game. Larry Rose III might be back to form – running for 168 yards against Arkansas State and 123 against Texas State – but that’s not going to be enough. If the Aggies aren’t throwing well, they don’t have a shot.
They’re not going to throw well.
The Mountaineers will dominate on the lines, the running attack will roll, and this won’t be pretty.
