Could this be a preview of the 2016 MAC Championship?

Western Michigan still has Toledo to contend with in the West, and Akron and Ohio still have to get it on, but these are the two most high-powered teams in the conference and they should put on a show.

Akron won two straight beating Kent State and Miami University, but even the wins over the lightweights have to be taken seriously for a team still rebuilding even halfway through the season.

The defense isn’t close to being as good as it was last year – especially in the secondary – but the offense has been able to make up for it, ripping off 31 points or more against everyone but Wisconsin.

It’ll help the cause getting starting quarterback Thomas Woodson back after a shoulder injury suffered a few weeks ago, but Tra’Von Chapman will still likely get the start. The Zips have options, and both can run the attack, but they’ll need to crank up the production against the unstoppable Broncos.

Zach Terrell is back after taking a big shot against NIU, but finishing completing 75% of his passes for 327 yards and three scores. How good has he been? 71%, 1,390 yards, 15 touchdowns, no picks.

He’s been the perfect conductor for the attack, doing enough to get by in a fun and wild shootout. Akron’s offense will go off at home, but the Broncos will always have an answer.
