It’s still all there for Tennessee.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s going to take another Florida loss along the way against Georgia, Arkansas, South Carolina or LSU to get it done, but only the game against the Gamecocks is at home.

And Tennessee needs to come back roaring after finally getting a desperately-needed break.

The Vols almost pulled off a miracle against Texas A&M, and got blasted by Alabama before getting a week off to finally rest up and heal. But with South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri and Vanderbilt to finish up the SEC season, the East is being served up on a tee if they can finally start to play with a little bit of positive consistency.

But they’re still very, very hurt with a terrible array of key injuries, especially on defense. South Carolina has to do something to take advantage of the banged up D, but it hasn’t shown the firepower in any sort of way this year to prove it can put up points on anyone with any semblance of defensive talent.

Gamecock freshman Jake Bentley was the story of the UMass game, coming in and completing 17-of-26 passes for 201 yards and two scores – but that was against UMass.

USC hasn’t been able to run the ball, and they haven’t been able to stop the run, so Tennessee will stop the run, run the ball, and try to get up right away and make the Gamecock offense push.

The Vols might have problems, but the rest will do them good, the offense will come out hot – a new thing for them – and they should be able to put this away without too much of a problem.

At least they should in theory. Tennessee hasn’t been able to put together a positive 60 minutes all season long, but against a limited Gamecock team, even on the road, it has to if it really is planning on getting back into the SEC title and CFP hunt.
