Cincinnati (3-2) vs. Connecticut (2-3) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 8
Game Time: 11:30 am
Venue: Rentschler Field, Hartford, CT
Network: CBS Sports Network
Connecticut’s season isn’t over with a loss, but Connecticut’s seasons is sort of over with a loss.
If the Huskies lose this, they have then win at least four of their final six games with road games at South Florida, East Carolina and Boston College still ahead, and UCF, Temple and Tulane at home.
Again, no pressure.
The offense has yet to show up this season, and unlike last year, the defense hasn’t been the rock it’s needed to be, especially against any decent passing games.
But the Huskies catch a break with Cincinnati QB Hayden Moore still hurting and likely out with an ankle problem, and that means it’s Ross Trail again, or Gunner Kiel – neither one has gotten the job done. The freshman Trail has thrown well at times, but he’s also given away five picks in the last two games.
Cincinnati has to void the turnovers, and make up for them with takeaways of its own, and it needs a big day from the D. It’ll get it in an ugly slugfest.
