Virginia Tech (1-1) vs. Boston College (1-1) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, September 17th
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, VA
Someday, Boston College will get an ACC win again.
The Eagles have been just good enough defensively to hang around with just about everyone, but the offense still hasn’t come around. It’s better with Patrick Towles at quarterback – the ground game has been good and the passing attack efficient – but the points aren’t flying on the board.
For BC to pull this off and avoid going 0-2 in ACC play – it lost to Georgia Tech to start the season – it has to be a rock against the run, muck down in a defensive slugfest, and win the turnover battle.
Virginia Tech did a good job against Tennessee in the Battle in Bristol, and then it couldn’t stop giving the ball away with five turnovers a week after giving it up four times against Liberty. The Hokies simply can’t hang on to the ball with all five turnovers coming on fumbles.
It’ll come down to the final moments in a field position dogfight. The BC offense won’t go anywhere, but neither will Tech’s. The Hokies will survive on a late field goal to keep the Eagle ACC nightmare going.
