2016 Texas A&M Aggies Schedule Breakdown

Texas A&M is in for one wild season one way or another. Can Kevin Sumlin come up with a huge year to turn the program back around? Will the schedule help the cause? Check out the preseason predictions for every game.

Sept. 3 vs. UCLA

It’s the toss-up game to start the season. UCLA has the talent and the quarterback to pull off the tremendous road win, but does the team have the heart and the toughness to win this? Get ready for a whole bunch of fun as the two teams come up with massive passing games – and with Josh Rosen being a little stronger.

Preseason Prediction: UCLA 45, Texas A&M 42

Sept. 10 vs. Prairie View A&M

The Aggie offense will open it up and have a little bit of fun before the SEC season kicks in. It’ll be offensive football porn for the A&M fans.

Preseason Prediction: Texas A&M 65, Prairie View A&M 0

Sept. 17 at Auburn

Auburn might desperately need this game with Clemson to start the season and LSU coming up next – and it’ll play like it. The Tiger offense will work against an Aggie defense that’ll have a few good moments early on, and not enough of them late.

Preseason Prediction: Auburn 34, Texas A&M 27

Sept. 24 vs. Texas A&M (in Arlington)

0-2 in the two big games of the year to kick things off, the Aggies desperately need the win – and they’re not going to get it. Each team will hit the other with haymakers, but it’ll be the Hogs that grind out the one drive needed to pull off the thrilling win.

Preseason Prediction: Arkansas 34, Texas A&M 30

Oct. 1 at South Carolina

Finally, the Aggies will get the win to ease the tension. Just when it seems like the season is totally lost, the offense will rise up and roll a Gamecock team unable to keep up the pace. The USC passing game won’t be able to get back in the game.

Preseason Prediction: Texas A&M 30, South Carolina 17

Oct. 8 vs. Tennessee

Where’s this coming from? Tennessee will come into the game roaring after the win over Alabama, and Texas A&M will be doing just enough to keep its head above water. The Aggie offense will explode, the Vols will be sluggish, and boom – the Kevin Sumlin hot seat talk will chill going into the bye week.

Preseason Prediction: Texas A&M 35, Tennessee 23

Oct. 22 at Alabama

The media will play up Alabama going against Trevor Knight for the first time since the former Oklahoma Sooner went nuts against the Tide in the 2014 Sugar Bowl, but it’ll be the Tide offense that’s the story. It’ll be a workmanlike effort for Bama going into a bye week – the rest the Aggies get will only go so far.

Preseason Prediction: Alabama 34, Texas A&M 17

Oct. 29 vs. New Mexico State

The complete and utter lack of an NMSU defense will be a breath of fresh air after trying to figure out Alabama. The Aggies will be able to call their shot – and they will.

Preseason Prediction: Texas A&M 52, New Mexico State 17

Nov. 5 at Mississippi State

Get ready for an out-of-the-blue shootout that’ll be among the best games of the 2016 SEC season. Both teams will be fired up and ready to go after breathers the week before – Mississippi State faces Samford – and it’ll be a back-and-forth battle with the team getting the ball last getting the win. Mississippi State, your key SEC win table is ready.

Preseason Prediction: Mississippi State 41, Texas A&M 37

Nov. 12 vs. Ole Miss

The flakiness continues. Aggie fans will want nothing left to do with Sumlin after the Mississippi State game, and then his offense will rip apart Ole Miss in get another crazy firefight that goes down to the end. Unlike the MSU fun, A&M will take this one late.

Preseason Prediction: Texas A&M 38, Ole Miss 34

Nov. 19 vs. UTSA

A much-needed breather late in the season, the Aggie clinch bowl eligibility by cranking up an easy win over a painfully overmatched Roadrunner team that’ll be little more than a speedbump.

Preseason Prediction: Texas A&M 47, UTSA 9

Nov. 26 vs. LSU

Texas A&M will play well against the nation’s No. 1 team, and it’ll have a few moments of upset excitement, and then the LSU offensive line will start working taking complete and total control. The Tiger attack will take the air out of the ball – and keep A&M on the sidelines.

Preseason Prediction: LSU 34, Texas A&M 23

2016 Prediction: 6-6

2016 SEC Prediction: 3-5
